In case you haven’t heard, my dogs are the worst subjects ever for taking photos!
With a little help from my husband (aka The Fun Guy), I actually got a few shots – I think they cooperated because they knew they would soon get play time with the fun guy. The best was when Rex put a piece of cheese on Bella’s paw. The result was pretty cute. I’ve been practicing because I plan on trying my hand at pet photography. So here we have Chill, Bella and Jimi:

I’m quietly working on getting back to work after some serious health issues. I’ve been thinking about doing more pet photography. I found a step in the right direction doing a session with Linda and her two adorable little dogs, Pebbles, 12 and Bella, 8. Bella belonged to a homeless person who passed away. Linda rescued her and you can tell she was so very loved and will continue to be in her new forever home.
“You know what music is? God’s little reminder that there’s something else besides us in this universe, a harmonic connection between all living beings, every where, even the stars.” from August Rush, the movie
There’s another quote I like that says, “The older I get the more selective I am of who is in my tribe. I would rather have four quarters than a hundred pennies.” Sorry I don’t know who the author is. My friend and brother from another mother came over and shared his gift of music with us recently. Bella especially enjoyed John’s playing and singing.
I’ve been on a long break as I recover from surgery. Sometimes I have a hard time going out for a fun time, feeling like I must bring my big camera and equipment and aim for perfection. Luckily I was able to just bring my little point and shoot to capture our puppy’s first day at the beach. We didn’t stay too long because it was windy and damp and chilly at the dog beach, but I got a few fun shots. One downfall of point and shoots is that you can’t see the screen very well in bright sunlight which means sometimes you just have to aim and shoot and hope you captured something worth keeping. Chill, our almost 6 month old puppy had a blast. I would have to call him fearless, fassst and a fan of trying to chase seagulls flying overhead. I didn’t get many shots of our other fur babies, but I had to shoot Jimi with a face covered with sand. He doesn’t care, he is such a ball chasing maniac! On the way to Morro Bay the dogs were full of anticipation – on the way home they were blissful with memories of sand, sea and chasing balls and seagulls (only flying overhead.) p.s.: Can you guess which photo I photoshopped?
My latest doggie subject, Paolo the dappled dachshund. Since it’s the holiday season, I’ve added some word overlays to some of the photos. You can click on each individual picture to see it enlarged. Also, if you visit my Donna Johnson Photography facebook page, you will find a great mini-session special going on.
